Seven Sentence Review of Fractured by Clár Ní Chonghaile

This is not a book I would normally pick-up, despite the fact two of the protagonists and I have the same job – reporters.

The most captivating element of this book was the characterisation. Told from three different view points, their stories are brought to life in a very human and accessible way. This is the author’s debut novel and she writes the landscapes of Somalia with a lovely, confident style.

If you like a character-driven novel with a dash of suspense set somewhere far more exotic than your front garden, then this book is for you.

Overall, it’s still not the kind of thing I would read but I would recommend it to others. I look forward to reading more of her work in the future.
